Conducted by National Museum of Japanese History (Aoyama, "Leiden Team B (shini-e, maps, fashion)")

Locations surveyed: Rijksmuseum Volkenkunde (National Museum of Ethnology), Leiden

Local contact: Prof. Matthi Forrer

Participants: Shin'ya Yamada, Seiji Kato

At Rijksmuseum Volkenkunde (National Museum of Ethnology) in Leiden, the following work was performed on shini-e-related materials in the museum's collection of ukiyo-e.

1) Basic data on the number of items, sizes, etc. was checked.
2) Misprints, omissions, etc. in previous records were checked/corrected for text within images.

These materials are in extremely good condition. They also include a number of items not possessed by any major institutions in Japan, making the survey an extremely significant one.
