Description:

Regarding the surveying of Japan-related materials (mainly maps, shini-e, and lacquerware) in the Siebold Collection at the Rijksmuseum Volkenkunde (National Museum of Ethnology), Leiden, the meeting reviewed prior surveys conducted by NHMJ, methods of reporting survey outcomes, and survey findings; and discussed providing open access, including what was needed in terms of future surveys, as well as methods and issues. The meeting was also used to present the future direction of the project and solicit opinions on the likelihood of it being accepted by collection holders, as well as to investigate future presentation methods for the work being done to catalog the Blomhoff and Fisscher-related materials at the at the Rijksmuseum Volkenkunde (National Museum of Ethnology), Leiden.
